The position is located in Columbia, SC (29223) with a day shift and falls under the Construction category. The role involves interacting with general contractors, co‑workers, and material handlers, receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and other products, and assisting the supervisor with roofing, siding, and maintenance installation projects as well as upkeep of existing buildings and client grounds.
Key duties include reading production schedules, customer orders, work orders, and shipping orders to determine items to be moved, conveying materials from receiving areas to storage or designated locations, and sorting and placing items on racks, shelves, or bins according to size, type, style, color, or product code. The employee fills requisitions, assembles orders, loads pallets or shelves, records material movements using a computer system, and drives a vehicle to transport items between the warehouse and other sites.
Additional responsibilities involve assisting in planning, scheduling, and tracking roofing/siding installations, running errands and supporting supervisors with supply pick‑up and drop‑off, helping the warehouse with packing and loading, conducting pre‑ and post‑inspection safety documentation, collaborating with the Field Supervisor to develop construction‑management skills, and operating equipment such as forklifts or company trucks as needed.
Required skills include strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, effective verbal and written communication, the capability to work in both field and office environments, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. A forklift certification, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, and bilingual Spanish abilities are preferred.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience or training. Physical requirements involve safely lifting up to 80 pounds, using team lifts or mechanical devices for heavier items, and regularly standing, walking, climbing, and balancing while working indoors in environments subject to extreme temperature changes.
