Key responsibilities include analyzing drawings, specifications, and proposals to generate accurate time, cost, and labor estimates, and driving value‑analysis processes to identify cost‑effective, efficient, and constructible design options. The manager will review construction documents for compliance, lead stakeholder decision meetings and design conferences, and support the preconstruction lead with design deliverables, packaging, and permitting decisions.
Additional duties involve developing trade partner RFPs and RFQs, evaluating quotes, supervising and training estimators, managing risk and contracts on bids, and promoting participation of small, minority, and disadvantaged businesses. The manager will maintain a cost database, research continuous‑improvement methods, and conduct site visits to account for unique field conditions.
Clark Construction is seeking an experienced Systems (MEPF) Preconstruction Manager with a focus on electrical and low‑voltage systems to support its Los Angeles and Orange County offices. The role involves leading the preconstruction process for MEPF systems, ensuring designs meet budget, schedule, and program standards while coordinating with internal teams, trade partners, designers, engineers, and stakeholders.
Qualifications include an undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related discipline, and at least five years of estimating and cost‑control experience, preferably in electrical commercial construction. Proficiency with On‑Screen Takeoff, Building Connected, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam is required; familiarity with Beck Destini, Fieldwire, and JOIN is a plus. The candidate must demonstrate strong design and cost‑management knowledge, organizational skills, detail orientation, and the ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership.
The position demands primarily desk‑based work with periods of focused data analysis and collaboration, as well as occasional travel to active construction sites and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. The work environment is a professional office with typical noise and lighting levels, while site visits may involve exposure to outdoor conditions, equipment noise, and dynamic safety considerations. Clark emphasizes a high‑performance culture, flexibility for extended hours during critical phases, and a drug‑free workplace.
Compensation ranges from $75,000 to $175,000 base salary, supplemented by bonus potential and an extensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, retirement/401k contributions, life insurance, commuter benefits, tuition reimbursement, and various family support programs. Clark Construction Group, a leading U.S. building and infrastructure firm, offers a collaborative, inclusive environment and is an equal‑opportunity employer committed to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
