Arranging and undertaking site visits when appropriate.
Identifying and sharing opportunities to improve departmental processes.

Ensuring that design work undertaken is carried out in accordance with Divisional/Segment procedures and that a high level of professionalism is maintained.
Preparing detailed designs in accordance with current standards and codes, including calculations, design risk assessments, and sufficiently detailed sketches for the preparation of 3D models and working drawings.
Representing the Temporary Works Centre of Expertise when necessary, at internal and external meetings.
Supervising the work of others within the department as appropriate, whilst maintaining responsibility for the completion of the task.
Being the “key point of contact” when appointed as Project Design Lead on specific projects/bids.
Preparing conceptual designs with a view to ensuring safe, practical, and economic solutions in accordance with current standards.
Checking the design work of other team members and external designers in accordance with departmental procedures.
Ensuring that the workflow management system is maintained with up-to-date and relevant data for all design tasks assigned to you.
Liaising with project teams with respect to design requirements and solutions.
Where applicable, ensure that feedback on design work is collated and saved.

Experience in the use of a range of civil/structural engineering design/analysis software and draughting/modelling packages.
Knowledge of digital construction processes.
Construction site experience
Experience in civil/structural engineering design for structures commonly required by BAM UK&I, which may include earthworks, earth retaining structures, foundations, structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, timber and formwork/falsework.
Membership of ICE and/or IStructE, or an accepted alternative professional institution, and working towards attaining Chartered Engineer status.
Experience in construction methods and processes.
Knowledge of BS5975 and an understanding of the role of temporary works in successful project delivery
Familiarity with modern methods of construction (e.g. DfMA etc.).
Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject.
