This role will be a part of the Lighting Engineering team and be responsible for ensuring our products meet stringent safety and compliance standards worldwide. Your responsibilities will include handling both NEC, CSA and global certifications such as ATEX and IECEx, and evaluating new products for inclusion in our portfolio. You will also validate and scrutinize test data sheets, construction review documents, and other necessary documentation related to 3rd party certification. This role requires a deep understanding of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering principles to ensure that products meet safety and performance criteria.
In this role you will lead certification efforts for new and existing products to meet NEC, CSA, ATEX, IECEx, UL, and other global standards. You will manage third‑party testing and analysis to validate product safety and performance in hazardous environments. You will review and prepare technical documentation including test data sheets, construction reviews, and compliance reports. You will collaborate cross‑functionally with design, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to resolve certification challenges and improve product compliance. You will stay current with evolving standards and regulations, and proactively guide teams on their impact. You will support audits and inspections, and contribute to the development of internal certification protocols. You will use industry‑standard platforms such as UL Product IQ, IECEx Online, and compliance management tools to streamline certification workflows.
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required, along with a minimum of one year of experience in hazardous location certification or a related area. Candidates must have strong knowledge of ATEX, IECEx, UL, and CSA standards and experience testing equipment for use in hazardous environments. Strong analytical, communication, and project‑management skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Detail‑oriented candidates with a commitment to accuracy and quality, professional certification in hazardous location standards, and familiarity with compliance platforms and safety software tools are preferred.
