Gunsmith I responsible for maintaining and repairing firearms, including performing unscheduled and scheduled maintenance and replacing worn or damaged parts. Must have knowledge of firearm mechanics and technical manuals, and be able to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Assists military unit personnel, inspection teams, and equipment specialists as required in all aspects of small arms repair, maintenance and problem solving.
Gunsmiths ensure firearms are properly maintained and lubricated to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Technicians will also be responsible for providing their own tools.
Will also be responsible for unscheduled and scheduled maintenance of a variety of automatic and semiautomatic Perform repair work on weapon system components such as firing pins, springs, trigger mechanisms, shell ejectors, sights, bolts, stocks, hammers, barrels, etc.
They select tools, replace worn or damaged parts, and adjust assembled weapons to meet the requirements set out in their instructions and written work orders.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Need to use knowledge of technical manuals, specification sheets, and drawings to determine operation, assembly, and tolerances of a variety of small arms subassemblies and parts, such as gas cylinder assemblies, adjustable sights, trigger assemblies, or bolt assemblies.
Attendance at a formal one-to-two-year accredited in-house gun-smithing course or 1-3 years of Gun Smith I experience.
Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift, push, pull, a minimum of 40 pounds, stooping, bending, squatting, reaching, and repetitive hand motions (e.g. frequently using screwdrivers, wrenches, and other hand-tools).
Strong communication skills for effective customer interaction.
Must undergo pre-employment background screening and drug testing.
Must be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card within first 90 calendar days of employment.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver’s license.
Strong knowledge of firearm mechanics, including assembly and disassembly processes.
They need a thorough understanding of different types of firearms, their mechanics, and safety protocols.
Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and finding solutions.
Be thoroughly familiar with the US Technical manuals (TMs).
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent legal resident with oral and written fluency in the English language.
Ideal candidate will have completed prerequisite training for Army Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 91F - Small Arms/Artillery Repair.
Working knowledge (proficient) of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
