Head of Engineering

• Promote departmental cohesion, ensuring strong communication and staff morale.
• Lead and support on-site build teams when required.
• Lead the Engineering Department in the accurate fabrication of scenic builds from complex drawings.
• Maintain a proactive approach to Health & Safety and sustainability practices
• Plan and oversee departmental schedules in collaboration with the Workshop Manager.
• Oversee training, apprenticeships, and work experience placements.
• Ensure safe operation, upkeep, and maintenance of departmental equipment.

This is an exciting leadership role for someone with strong technical expertise, proven people management skills, and the ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

• Highly organised, calm under pressure, and able to prioritise effectively.
• Health & Safety awareness (H&S qualifications desirable).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Skilled in MIG and TIG welding (Engineering NVQ or coded welding qualifications preferred).
• Strong fabrication experience in scenic, theatre, TV, FIlm, Events, or related industries.
• Extensive knowledge of materials and build techniques.
• Proven leadership and project scheduling experience.
• Proficiency with Windows, Google Docs, and related software.
• Ability to interpret and fabricate from complex technical drawings.

Salary: £45,000+ generous overtime rate (£60,000 OTE)
