In this role you will oversee substation project deliverables, guide junior staff, ensure rigorous quality control, and help disseminate HDR’s technical expertise through papers and presentations.
- Develop and review engineering deliverables (studies, drawings, calculations, specifications) for complex substation projects.
- Assign tasks and provide technical direction to junior and mid‑level team members.
- Perform quality‑control reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency of deliverables.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to build expertise and stay current with industry practices.
- Contribute to technical papers and presentations showcasing HDR’s capabilities.
- Mentor, train, and supervise EITs and Designers as needed.
- Support cross‑team QC reviews to maintain company and client standards.

The Senior Substation Electrical Engineer is responsible for the technical aspects and deliverables of moderate‑to‑high‑complexity substation projects. This role requires deep expertise in substation design, the ability to manage project tasks, and a commitment to quality and mentorship.
Candidates should have extensive substation design experience, proficiency with industry design software, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a background in consulting and technical standards.
Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in engineering, a minimum of ten years of relevant experience, and a professional engineering license appropriate for the job location. Candidates must have extensive project execution experience in the Power Market sector, be proficient with Microsoft Office and design tools like PLS‑CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit, and embrace the employee‑owned culture.
