- Read construction drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine work procedures.
- Identify and use basic and special rigging equipment, including chain hoists, come‑alongs, jacks, and tuggers; employ hand signals and inspect rigging gear.
- Identify and explain the use of threaded and non‑threaded fasteners and anchors.
- Identify various gaskets, layout, cut, and install flange gaskets; select and install appropriate O‑rings.
- Remove and install bearings using manual pullers, presses, and heat; recognize common bearing failure modes and install pillow‑block bearings.
- Identify, explain, and install different types of packing and seals, including mechanical seal classifications.
- Identify, explain, and install various coupling types.
- Identify, explain, and fabricate different shim stocks and materials.
- Identify, explain, and use various conveyors, rotary, reciprocating and centrifugal pumps, turbines; store motors properly.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, install, and remove pumps; identify compressor types and operation principles; understand gearboxes and gear types.
- Lift and carry items up to 45 lb.
- Navigate confined, cluttered, and uneven spaces while maintaining full range of motion.
- Work up to 12‑hour shifts in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.

- Identify, explain, and install belt and chain drives; understand types of fans and blowers.
- Minimum four years heavy‑industrial field experience as a Mechanical Millwright and five years with steam turbine systems.
- Preferred NCCER written, performance‑verified, or NCCER Certified Plus in Industrial Millwright.
- Ability to identify various machinery and understand their operation.
- Must possess a locking toolbox and all required tools.
- Must successfully complete all required pre‑hire requirements.
- Wear required PPE: safety footwear, prescription safety glasses or eye shields.
