Maintain safety awareness and ensure contractors comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures to assure a safe working environment at the construction site.
Adhere to company policies, programs and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and New York Independent System Operators (NYISO).
Provide constructability feedback.
Ensure all functional testing is complete at job sites in preparation of commissioning of the facilities.
Ensure contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, permits, etc.
Determines the contract resource requirements, service specifications and manages contractor performance.
Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan review and feedback to contractors.
Construction issue resolution: Lead resolution in a timely manner to proactively resolve problems and coordinate activities.
Provide technical expertise on various company projects and programs with responsibility for the construction and commissioning of hydroelectric projects.
Project documentation: Record and capture on-site project information and communicate to/with project team.
Provide safety orientation and daily tailboards to on-site project personnel.
Work with team to coordinate field inspections and sign offs for construction projects, including but not limited to safety and environmental.
Identify and communicate unsafe conditions to Contractors, Project Manager and assure safety concerns and issues are resolved.
Ensure construction resources are being managed within the schedule and budget.
Reporting: Prepare daily, weekly and monthly construction progress reports

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project and/or Primavera.
Extensive knowledge of construction management practices applicable to power generation and water retaining structure construction including commissioning of electrical equipment.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 10+ years relevant experience preferred.
Must be able to travel to construction sites on a day-to-day and/or week-to-week basis for an extended period, attend meetings.
Extensive experience completing on-site technical inspections, including material deliveries.
Be agile
Working knowledge of budget preparation, cost estimating, invoicing, project scheduling, and administration.
Extensive knowledge of power generation and associated operating systems.
Effective leadership, project management and organizational skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communications, including correspondence, reports, and other business documents.
Working knowledge of best practices in safety policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret civil/mechanical/electrical drawings, and technical manuals/specifications.
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Demonstrated ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
Knowledge of government regulations, including FERC, OSHA, NESC, NEC and industry codes affecting electric utilities.
A minimum of 5 years of related electric utility and/or power generation experience, with construction management experience preferred.
3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred
Knowledge of contract preparation, negotiations and administration.
Associate’s degree with a minimum of 20 years relevant experience, or High School/GED with the completion of the relevant progression program and 25 years relevant experience required.
