  • Compare predicted and actual performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Help monitor how the network is performing against forecasts, and feed insights back into planning and decision-making
  • Support the creation of network performance insights—such as heat maps and corridor predictions—to help forecast and manage future impacts
  • Liaise with scheme promoters and stakeholders to ensure plans are well understood and impacts are managed
  • Build strong working relationships with teams across TfL, local boroughs, and external partners to ensure smooth coordination of projects and interventions
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of a five-year forward plan for coordinating planned works and events across London’s road network
  • Contribute to the impact assessment of major strategic projects—such as Brent Cross, High Speed 2, and Tideway—ensuring they align with the Mayor’s Transport Strategy and minimise disruption
  • Support the review of works proposals from boroughs and TfL teams, ensuring they’re assessed efficiently and in line with strategic objectives
  • Attend site meetings when needed, helping to resolve any issues that arise
  • Assist with assessing schemes, planning works, and identifying ways to reduce traffic disruption

  • Very good analytical and interpretation skills (Essential)
  • Strong understanding of the systems and processes employed in traffic/transport engineering (Highly desirable)
  • Experience of highways engineering particularly scheme/traffic signal design (Highly desirable)
  • Record of delivering on time and within budget (Essential)
  • Experience of managing the implementation of roadworks and street works (Highly desirable)
  • Good understanding of relevant legislation (TMA 2004, Highways Act 1980, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, TSRGD Chapter 8, etc.), the political context and public sector environment (Essential)
  • Experience in a highway and traffic engineering and capacity assessment and management environment (Essential)
  • Understanding of the usage of highways/transportation information systems and data sources associated with road engineering (Highly desirable)
  • Experience of interpreting traffic modelling software outputs from packages such as Linsig, TRANSYT, VISSIM etc. (Highly desirable)
  • Demonstrable experience in the assessment and coordination of activities around major developments (Highly desirable)
  • Good negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills (Essential)
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and management (Essential)
  • Qualified to degree level in civil engineering, transport planning or equivalent experience with a HND in civil engineering (Essential)
