The Construction Project Manager I supports the full project life cycle for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure construction projects, with opportunities to grow into independent project management responsibilities. Working under the direction of a Project Manager II or senior leader, this role assists in planning, coordination, and execution to ensure successful project delivery.
As a Construction Project Manager, you’ll take the lead through every phase of a project — managing schedules, budgets, and teams to bring our clients’ visions to life. You’ll be the main point of contact for your projects, driving communication, solving challenges, and ensuring a smooth, successful delivery.
- Participate in project planning, including cost estimation, scheduling, resource planning, and defining project scopes.
- Help coordinate and attend progress meetings with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Lead client communication and project coordination from start to finish.
- Must follow safety guidelines and apply established site protocols.
- Act as an on-site liaison between subcontractors, clients, vendors, and the HEAPY project team, ensuring clear communication and adherence to project requirements.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
- Engage in ongoing technical and professional development, aligned with OKR goals.
- Support project documentation, progress tracking, and reporting, including updates for billing and cost control.
- Assist with the review of contracts, drawings, and submittals for accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in client outreach and communication, helping to maintain strong relationships and a Superior Client Experience.
- Support client relationships and business development across the Indianapolis market.
- Collaborate with senior project managers, operations managers, and practice leaders to ensure timely project execution and team alignment.
- Travel regularly to job sites to oversee subcontractors and ensure construction is progressing safely and according to design specifications.

- Verify that safety procedures and company policies are followed on all active job sites.
- Define project scope, timelines, and resources for clear alignment and execution.
- Oversee medium to large-scale projects (construction costs up to $5 million).

Normally requires a 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with 0–3 years of experience in construction project management, engineering, or related internship/co-op experience.

- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Ability to remain sedentary at a desk for periods of time while operating a computer.

- Ability to gather, organize, and evaluate information related to project performance, costs, and schedules.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and video conferencing.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments (heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.).
- Basic understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, and construction sequencing.
- OSHA Safety Training/Certification (OSHA 30-Hour Construction) required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to access all areas of a job site, including ladders, scaffolding, and stairs.
