The day‑to‑day responsibilities include overseeing HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems specific to data‑center operations, implementing environment protocols and Method‑of‑Procedure processes, and conducting regular performance analyses of mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
You will apply mechanical engineering principles to improve efficiency and reliability, design cooling solutions for high‑density server environments, enhance airflow management, and develop preventive‑maintenance schedules for all critical infrastructure.
The position also requires leading root‑cause analyses for system failures, implementing corrective actions and upgrades, proposing energy‑saving initiatives to reduce PUE, and evaluating green technologies while ensuring compliance with standards such as ASHRAE and ISO.
We are seeking a Data Center Mechanical Engineer (SME) with extensive mechanical engineering experience and at least five years of data‑center operations expertise. In this role you will manage and optimize critical systems in a high‑performance data‑center environment, responding to inquiries with specialized knowledge.
Physical demands include lifting up to 80 lb, working at heights, climbing ladders up to 30 ft with additional weight, and operating in extreme temperature conditions; on‑call availability and long‑duration driving are also required.
Required qualifications are four or more years of building‑engineering experience with strong HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment skills, experience in data‑centers or raised‑floor environments, universal EPA 608 certification, CRAC (Liebert) maintenance experience, and proficiency with Word and Excel; a two‑year trades program or documented apprenticeship is also needed.
Preferred qualifications include deep expertise in a specific craft area such as electrical, HVAC, or piping, familiarity with building automation and fire/life‑safety systems, and flexibility to work day or night shifts.
The role is based on‑site in Spartanburg, SC and does not provide visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
