The Public Works Project Manager will lead a variety of public infrastructure projects, collaborating with engineering designers and clients to deliver projects on time and within budget. The role works closely with senior leaders, manages project deliverables, deadlines, and budgets, and mentors junior staff while fostering ownership of TAIT projects.
- Interface daily with clients, develop proposals, negotiate scopes and fees, ensure timely billing and collections and change orders.
- Spearhead plan processing at public agencies.
- Manage project staff, including design engineers and CAD operators, and mentor junior design staff.
- Assign tasks and keep the team on track and within budget.
- Identify design criteria and oversee efficient design and plan preparation.
- Assist team members with design tasks to develop skills.
- Assist the Director with marketing and client development for the Division.
- Solve design problems using engineering calculations and general design standards.
- Establish project controls and ensure accuracy, quality, profitability, schedule, staff coordination, and client communications.
- Walk job site locations as needed.
- Carry/utilize survey equipment if needed on job sites.

Applicants must have 6–10 years of project‑manager experience on public roadway and utility improvement designs, including writing construction specifications, and a background in land‑development projects. A B.S. in Civil Engineering, a current California P.E. license, a valid driver’s license, and proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D are required, along with strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.

- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Current knowledge and familiarity using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Expertise in preparation of grading plans, utility plans, site plans and preliminary cost estimates; strong design skills using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for land development design.
- Ability to apply proven principles of civil engineering within an aggressive service‑oriented business environment.
- Superior leadership and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to drive a vehicle to job sites when required.
