The Senior Optimisation Architect leads the mathematical optimisation capability that drives nbn’s long‑term network investment strategy. This role develops and maintains advanced optimisation models, analytics solutions, and Python‑based pipelines to support fibre rollout planning, investment prioritisation, and capital efficiency. It also shapes strategic planning tools, leads cost‑optimisation initiatives, delivers industry and economic insights, and oversees business case development for major programmes. Additionally, the architect mentors team members and influences cross‑functional decision‑making.
The ideal candidate holds an advanced quantitative degree and deep expertise in mathematical optimisation, with hands‑on experience deploying complex models in real‑world environments. Proficiency in Python, leading optimisation libraries and solvers, and the ability to work with large datasets to solve commercial and operational challenges are essential. Strong financial modelling, business case development experience, and a track record of delivering strategic insights—preferably within telco or infrastructure—are required. Mastery of analytics tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI and Auto Insights, together with excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills, is also expected.
To be eligible, you must have valid working rights in Australia.
