- Performs sizing calculations for control elements, instrumentation/device selections and other engineering calculations of basic complexity as required to confirm project requirements are met.
- Designs automation systems of basic complexity in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines.
- Attends professional development activities.
- Develops automation systems documentation in the form of narratives, reports, drawings and diagrams to be used for construction of basic complexity.
- Utilizes various platforms to execute work, such as Microsoft Office products, available BIM software and instrumentation and automation vendor platforms.
- Works under the direction and guidance of a more experienced Engineer to execute design responsibilities.
- Works closely with other architects, engineers and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible and complete design.
- Conducts basic field investigations to integrate the design with existing systems and structures.

- Proficient with basic internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Basic experience with implementing fundamental design aspects of control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings and field wiring plans design
- Basic experience reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Basic experience with applicable building codes
- Basic experience with the electrical code
- Proficient at basic design calculations under supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer
- Fundamentals of Engineering exam registration or completion
- ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in discipline-specific field of study (ChemE, ME or EE)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting
- May work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor.
- Basic experience with other applicable industry standards
- Basic experience with performing instrumentation and controls engineering calculations, and developing and implementing instrumentation and control system design
- Proficient with basic coordination with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
