Senior Creative Design Specialist

Description

• Ensure all deliverables comply with VHB’s corporate branding standards, formats, and template styles.
• Take initiative to learn about VHB’s mission, core values, markets, services, regional leadership, and organizational goals.
• Manage projects, tasks, and deadlines to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Plan, conceptualize, and design compelling and impactful graphics that convey complex information more concisely (e.g., covers/tabs, long-form document layout, charts/tables, maps, infographics, technical diagrams).
• Actively engage with VHB’s culture and leadership to align design strategies with organizational objectives.
• Mentor and coach design team members, providing guidance and feedback to enhance their skills and performance.
• Maintain quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards to ensure accuracy and consistency across all materials.
• Provide support on internal or external visibility communications, conferences, webinars, and other regional industry events and experiences (e.g., digital communications, social media, email, ads, presentations).
• Collaborate with third parties, including print vendors, photographers, and other subcontractors as required.
• Actively participate in and present at kick-off meetings, check-ins, and final review meetings with limited supervision.
• Lead design efforts through all phases of development and final production of materials, under the direction of a Creative Design Lead or Creative Design Manager.
• Share knowledge and best practices with team members, strengthening internal relationships with marketing peers and technical staff.
• Coordinate and manage graphic design projects for client deliverables (e.g., project branding, printed reports, online documents, public outreach materials, custom infographics, website assets).

Requirements

• Strong visual storytelling and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related discipline preferred.
• Aptitude for excelling in a highly collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal exchanges.
• Involvement in industry affiliations a plus (e.g., AIGA, SEGD).
• Skills or experience in photography and video production are strongly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Demonstrates self-motivation, a remarkable attention to detail, and critical design thinking skills.
• Able to work concurrently on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• 4-6 years of graphic design experience, preferably in an agency setting or within the A/E/C environment.
• Proactive project management and organizational skills.
• Additional skills or interest in animation, branding, website design, wayfinding design, map creation within ArcGIS, UX design, or 3D modeling are also valued.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint and SharePoint (VHB is on a PC platform).
• Knowledge of digital and print design principles.
• Competence in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
