Asset Planning Sponsor

The Sponsor role will practice Asset Management Principals working closely with Operations and other Stakeholders to understand business risks on Water Distribution assets. Sponsors support the development of mitigations to be implemented that will drive success towards Yorkshire Water’s Performance Commitments. You will be accountable for the realisation of desired outcomes and benefits from any investment while supporting the governance between the organisation’s senior managers and the management of each project.

• Working closely with operational colleagues to identify asset risks or opportunities that may require additional intervention to resolve - through proactive liaison meetings to discuss risks, performance and intervention plans.
• During concept and investigation phases, drive TOTEX hierarchy opportunities (e.g. maximising no build, process optimisation, improved maintenance) before considering CAPEX.
• Encourage innovative thinking and solution options in order to achieve cost and carbon reduction challenges.
• Help the organisation achieve the delivery of Price Control Deliverables for Water Mains Renewal, Lead Replacement and Water Mains Network Reinforcement.
• Lead projects through the investigation phase, ensuring that potential solutions to new regulatory obligations or asset performance shortfalls are fully investigated, utilising expert and partner resources as required
• Balancing of OPEX, CAPEX and Carbon along with business needs resilience to achieve an optimum output
• Ownership of the Business Case and securing funding for the project through business governance routes.
• Identify and lead investigations into asset performance shortfalls or opportunities and identify a notional solution where appropriate.

• Understanding of Yorkshire Water Performance Commitments/Price Control Deliverables
• Ability to understand root cause analysis
• Experience of partnership/collaborative working
• Understand the Business Need in the context of the company’s strategic, operational and regulatory drivers.
• Risk Management understanding and experience
• Understanding of Engineering Specifications
• Full Driving Licence
• Well organised and methodical
• CDM awareness/SMSTS Construction to enable development of safety culture and competence in completing PCI
• Understanding of site process safety – representation in Hazard Study Process
• Influencing and negotiating skills
• Engineering / process knowledge and experience of Clean Water Distribution asset base and its operation
• Understanding project risks during the life of the scheme, through Scope change (quality), Cost, Time and managing any residual risk.

Location: Hybrid Working (1-2 days in an office a week – Location TBC dependant on successful candidate home location)
