  • Provides support to trades in the Installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and electrical systems in a data center.
  • Develop creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies.
  • Engage in IDIQ improvement projects and driving them from conception to completion.
  • Monitors electrical / critical power distribution from the Utility / Generator main switchgear through the UPS systems out to the customer load to ensure operational readiness.
  • Monitors, maintains, and responds to abnormal conditions in facilities systems. Areas include Mechanical, Electrical, Fire / Life Safety, and Building Monitoring and Control.
  • Ensures data center operates at maximum operational efficiency, including analyzing existing operating conditions, recommending new technologies and improving overall efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Reads blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical order to determine methods and sequences of processes.
  • Routinely operate as the after-hours on-call. This will include responding to any issues within the data centers and managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s).
  • Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure. Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the performance work statement and done to high quality and without impact to internal/external customers.
  • Oversee Work order projections and ensure deliverables are met in accordance with performance work statement(s).
  • Works with the Lead Technicians to track and complete Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Tasks and Services.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, and hearing protection where the company requires.
  • Ensures Fire / Life Safety systems which include wet sprinkler systems, pre-action sprinkler systems, clean agent suppression systems, and their associated detection devices are operation ready.
  • Report and coordinate with Facility Project Manager and / or Deputy Project Manager
  • Ensure inspection rounds are complete, and any deficiencies are documented / and or corrected.
  • Coordinates daily with a multitude of third-party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs and monitor completion of PM’s.

  • Environment familiarity including, but not limited to the following: electrical distribution and layout, transformers, PLC’s, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STS’s, ATS’s PDU’s, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAH’s, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems, Clean Agent Fire Suppression Systems.
  • Associate degree or equivalent education and/or work experience and a minimum of 2 years in a similar position within critical facilities (preferably a data center, hospital, semi- conductor, or power plant) required.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with data trending / tracking and analysis and the ability to utilize a PC based integrated critical monitoring system.

  • Must be able to work on a shift which may require nights, holidays, and some weekends.
  • Able to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar position within critical facilities (preferably a data center, hospital, semi-conductor, or power plant)
  • A minimum of 5 years in a similar position within critical facilities (preference given to data center, hospital, semi-conductor, or power plant experience).
  • Ability to operate Hand and Machine Tools (hammer, drill, saw, etc.).
  • Ability to coordinate, supervise, and communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff and effectively work in a team environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Current knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e. lock out/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations).
  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license
  • Must be a US Citizen, and currently have, or be able to obtain, a Secret Security Clearance.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems including:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent education and/or work experience normally obtained with 6-8 years’ related experience which includes:
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required equipment as well as to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
  • Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, and compliance issues as well as building codes regarding fire / life safety.
  • 12,470, 480/277 and 208/120 electrical generation and distribution
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is essential to satisfactory performance.
  • Ability to operate electrical tools such as a multi-meter or infrared camera.
  • OSHA 10 and NFPA70E Certified during employment required.
  • Possess an understanding of the electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems used in a data center.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platforms.
  • Must be willing to be part of the after-hours notification and escalation protocol.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E Certification during employment.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Work Order system.
  • Associate of Science in Technology degree or equivalent education and/or work experience plus
  • Must work on-site; no telecommuting permitted.
  • OSHA-10 General Industry Course completion
  • Two to 3 years as a data center technician L2 in a critical facility environment.
