Provides design guidance and oversight to assigned mechanical designers for specific projects enabling them to release optimized designs
Develops bill of materials (BOM) and translation documents related to new or changed designs
Coordinates with engineering and others to deviate/approve part shortages
Develops new or modifies current equipment selections
Prepares product documentation, operating instructions, and reviews related technical literature
Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies
Creates new designs to support customer specials and develops the specifications for each new component
Creates cost estimates for the special request including cost of material and labor.
Reviews Mechanical CAD modeling and simulations
Collaborate with the Product Design Engineering team to develop designs
Produce software change requests for selection tool and test the results
Tests and troubleshoots designs products to ensure they are functioning properly and are safe for use
Provides support to production team to facilitate seamless product and feature releases
Stays up to date with local and national design codes and regulations to ensure that designs meet safety standards including but not limited to UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA
Works with engineering and operations to implement engineering change notices (ECN)
Collaborates with designers and engineers to ensure that the product designs integrate seamlessly with other systems
Reviews product specifications for designs and makes design recommendations
Supports DFMEAs, PFMEAs, CFD, FEA, and seismic evaluations and testing
