Prepares records and reports pertaining to abatements, court actions, daily activities, enforcement actions and inspections.
Responds to and investigates allegations of violations of Municipal, Land Development and Property Maintenance Codes to determine validity of complaints and the appropriate course of action to mitigate issues.
Compiles documentation for and issues summons.
Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 25–50 pounds (e.g., inspection tools, plans, or small equipment).
Schedules and performs systematic property maintenance inspections to maintain or achieve minimum property standards.

Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, or unfinished stairways to access roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other elevated or confined areas.
Work performed in both office and field settings.
Hearing sufficient to communicate with contractors, workers, and the public in noisy environments.
Up to 20 hours/week*
ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification is a plus
Ability to detect safety hazards and defects through visual and auditory inspection.
Valid driver's license and a good driving record required
Experience in enforcement, security, compliance-related work including investigating allegations, conducting research and resolving complaints, concerns or conflicts
Ability to read, interpret, and explain City codes and site plans, maps and work plans
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) and construction site environments (noise, dust, uneven terrain).
Frequent driving between inspection sites and company locations within a region.
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, citizens and elected officials; Handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to make presentations
Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, or kneeling to conduct inspections.
Visual acuity sufficient to read construction plans, technical documents, and observe construction details.
