The basic functions of a carpenter are to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard and other materials, using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools, while conforming to local building codes and OSHA rules and regulations.
Prepare layout, using rule, framing square, and levels. Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials. Shape materials to required measurements. Assemble, cut and shape materials and fasten them together.
Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at any height.
Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
