• Select specified type of materials
• Using blueprints and standard carpentry tools, layout, cut, and assemble structure as directed.
• Study blueprints for required materials.
• Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and finger with full use of hands, arms, and fingers.
• Verify trueness of structure using standard carpenters’ tools.
• Worker is responsible for own hand tools.
• Rechecks blueprints and structure to assure accuracy.
• Set structure in place, making any necessary adjustment using standard carpenters tools for accuracy.
• Follows the direction of the foreman or superintendent to assemble structure to meet blueprint specifications and building codes.
• Makes any necessary adjustments to structure.
• Reads blueprints accurately and chooses correct materials for the job.
• Verify trueness of structure.
• Study blueprints for information pertaining to type of materials required and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
• The basic functions of a carpenter are to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard and other materials, using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools, while conforming to local building codes and OSHA rules and regulations.
• Prepare layout, using rule, framing square, and levels. Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials. Shape materials to required measurements. Assemble, cut and shape materials and fasten them together.
• Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at any height.
• Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.

Requirements

• Preferred: 4 or more year(s) carpentry experience and apprenticeship program certificate.
• Certificate of completion of apprenticeship program. Work experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for education.
• This position must be able to comprehend math and interpret data from building plans.
• Must be able to communicate in English, verbally, and be able to read and understand blue prints.
• Worker must be punctual.
• Position requires knowledge of blueprints, sketches, or building plans.
• Worker MUST supply own hand tools.
• Able to see well (either naturally or with correction).
• Required: Must have at least a 10 th grade education.
• Must demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality.
• Required: Must have at least 4 years construction experience with mostly carpentry experience.
• Demonstrates advanced levels of carpentry experience.
• Position requires the ability to work with precise accuracy using the tools of the trade.
• Preferred: High School Diploma, and completion of apprenticeship program. Work experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for education.
