Produce phased design sketches and plans
Develop signal hardware circuit plans for grade crossing and wayside projects; be able to design for different Railroads, Commuter Rail, and Transit Systems; be experienced with a variety of signal design standards, typical drawings, and signaling equipment
Provide configurations for modern solid state crossing detection equipment
Travel to conduct signal cut-in oversight with contractors in the field and/or provide remote design support to contractors through to commissioning
Produce preliminary design sketches for project scope
Conduct field site visits for preliminary engineering to assess existing conditions
Provide configurations for communications devices, like routers and modems
Assist in the development of bidding documents to include technical descriptions, design scope, assumptions & exclusions, and estimated effort & costs

Be familiar with Positive Train Control wayside compatibility and communications packages
Develop application programs for solid state processors; be experienced with paper checking, simulating, and rack testing
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
5+ years of prior experience required.
Proficiency with electronic communication, including email and text, and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Experience producing drawings with CAD software.
Ability to interact effectively with other staff members.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program or equivalent relevant industry experience.
Basic oral and written communication skills.
Experienced in drafting signal plans in MicroStation and AutoCAD
