Design Engineer – Steam Turbines (Service Engineering)

Description

• Support field service team and customer queries in urgent forced outage recovery programs.
• Evaluate non-conformance reports (NCRs) and define corrective actions.
• Support field service team during planned outages including standard solutions, specific solutions and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, field service, and other stake holders.
• Generate and release detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Perform form, fit, and function studies to ensure design integrity and compatibility.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance or direction.
• Interpersonal skills, both written and verbal for the English language & ability to work in a global team environment
• Flexibility to travel as required by the projects and customers.
• Experience in root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge of SAP (product module) and Teamcenter.
• Familiarity with steam turbine products or repair methods for major components.
• Ability to make quick, informed decisions on a regular basis.
• Significant hands-on experience in designing software like NX, Pro-E and AutoCAD etc.
• 12 to 16 years of engineering or manufacturing experience, preferably in Turbomachinery domain.
• Ability to coordinate directly with field service, manufacturing, quality, and network partners.
• Knowledge of industry standards (ASME, ISO, DIN).
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Extensive knowledge of steam turbine design: turbine rotor, casings, blades, gland seal components, bolting, bearings & pedestals, steam valves etc.
• Ability to manage multiple manufacturing issues / projects and deadlines.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical or Production engineering.
