In this role you will work as a Client Engineer on a multi‑year framework with EirGrid, contributing to a varied portfolio of groundbreaking projects and gaining extensive learning opportunities across multidisciplinary teams.
- Design primary plant layouts and schematics for high‑voltage substations.
- Produce equipment specifications for HV plant and associated hardware.
- Provide engineering design input for major infrastructure projects.
- Prepare technical specifications and documentation.
- Act as Owner’s Engineer on HV substation, cable and overhead line projects.
- Contribute HV design to renewable energy schemes such as battery storage, solar, hydro and wind.
- Coordinate across multidisciplinary engineering teams and conduct site visits to ensure design integrity.
- Develop specifications or detailed designs for substation control systems, transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear.
- Write technical reports and documentation.
- Provide consultancy services and review detailed designs on construction sites (optional).

Candidates must have a degree in Electrical Engineering, proven experience on high‑voltage design projects, and a background working with major utilities or developers. Additional requirements include experience developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear, strong technical report writing skills, fluency in English, a full driving licence and the ability to manage multiple projects.
Preferred qualifications include experience on multi‑discipline engineering projects, chartered status or progress toward it, consultancy experience, and a track record of reviewing detailed designs and witnessing construction activities.
- Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Demonstrate experience on high‑voltage design projects and with major utilities or developers.
- Maintain fluency in English and possess a full driving licence with personal vehicle access.
- Work flexibly across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience on multi‑discipline engineering projects (optional).
- Pursue or hold chartered engineering accreditation (optional).
