HDD Crew Chief

Description

• Supervise, train and mentor crew members while managing workflow and morale
• Operate HDD rig, guide drill head, manage drilling fluid, and pull back conduit/cable
• Conduct site safety assessments, locate utilities, and implement strike‑prevention measures
• Oversee job‑site setup, potholing, and restoration activities such as grading and seeding
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance on tools and machinery
• Complete daily reports and communicate progress to project managers and stakeholders

Requirements

• Proven HDD operations experience with team leadership
• Knowledge of utility locating, mud mixing and drill guidance systems
• Ability to read blueprints, utility maps and drill profiles
• Strong focus on safety and risk mitigation
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) and DOT certifications

The position offers a pay range of $30‑$34 per hour and includes generous per‑diem, overtime, and travel accommodations.
