- Examine building plans and specifications for compliance with architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, energy, green building, accessibility, and egress code requirements.
- Coordinate plan review with other public agencies, itemize required corrections, and explain them to permit applicants.
- Authorize issuance of building permits for code‑compliant plans and calculate associated fees.
- Advise architects, contractors, builders, and the public on interpreting building regulations, state laws, and local ordinances.
- Submit workload, process statistics, new product information, and code interpretation reports to jurisdictional Building Officials.
