During the internship the intern will work closely with engineers and business stakeholders to shape core functionality, create new reporting capabilities, and maintain documentation within JIRA. They will also aid in phasing out legacy systems as the new solution is adopted.
- Assist in modernizing or building a new application for Retail Home Consultant awards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and engineers to define and implement core features.
- Coordinate creation of new reports with DEAG as needed.
- Document processes and progress in JIRA.
- Support decommissioning of the previous application when required.

Clayton’s Retail Technology team is seeking a Software Engineer intern to help modernize the system that tracks and manages Retail Home Consultant awards. The intern will be based in the Maryville, TN office and will deliver a project that will be presented to technology leadership. This role bridges academic learning with real‑world corporate experience.
Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline and have a solid understanding of software development lifecycles. Familiarity with reporting tools, cloud platforms, and effective communication of technical challenges is valued. The role also seeks self‑motivation and a desire to quickly learn new technologies.
- Enrolled as a junior in a Bachelor's program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiar with application development concepts and lifecycle.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Tableau and data visualization.
- Familiarity with cloud development.
- Communicate blockers and seek guidance proactively on complex problems.
- Self‑motivated, eager to learn, and rapidly apply new knowledge.
