In this role you will manage SME IP risk, respond to broker enquiries, maintain renewal prospect lists, and support business development and reporting.
As an Assistant Underwriter you’ll dive straight into underwriting IP exposures, including new business and renewal underwriting, developing broker relationships, and assisting the team on product development. Risks you’ll be underwriting will involve defensive infringement risk, pursuit of infringers risk and IP right protection exposures across multiple territories, with a focus on educating brokers on IP risk and the benefits of a standalone IP policy. Direct underwriting experience is not essential, but you should have insurance experience, a keen interest in intellectual property, and a willingness to develop your skills alongside a supportive team.
You are motivated, determined and eager to succeed, with strong analytical, logical and problem‑solving abilities, excellent numeracy and clear communication. You thrive in a collaborative team, work to deadlines, and are comfortable using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). General insurance knowledge, either from underwriting or broking, and an interest in intellectual property are essential.
