Position is responsible for making site visits to oversee repairs and perform inspections in locations that include, but are not limited to tracks, tunnels, elevated structures, and confined spaces. May be subject to bending, climbing, crawling, grasping, hearing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, talking, seeing, walking, and carrying and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds; Specific vision abilities are also required such as close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Interpreting and administering policies and procedures sufficient to administer, discuss, resolve, and explain them to staff and other constituencies.
Establish goals and performance objectives for equipment availability and reliability necessary to meet daily service schedules; monitor KPI’s and trends, establish benchmarks and implement preventive maintenance and repair policies and procedures; ensure rail vehicle maintenance and repair operations, cleanliness and performance standards are in conformance with all contractual and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with rail vehicle manufacturers, engineering and project teams to identify, track and resolve fleet defects, reliability issues and warranty issues; negotiate settlements when required; oversee and manage fleet modifications and enhancements as-needed; coordinate communications between rail vehicle manufacturers, operating partners and Sound Transit.
