Bridge Inspection Team Leader

Bridge Inspection Team Leader responsible for leading inspection tasks, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with standards, planning inspections, evaluating bridge conditions, and documenting findings.
Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.
Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Prepare and check condition survey drawings and/or specifications.
Perform and/or review structural load rating calculations of various bridges.
Perform and supervise bridge inspection services including scheduling, inspections, report writing and review and database management.
Oversee planning and inspection phases of projects.
Develop project inspection and safety criteria, load rating calculations, and estimating National Bridge Element quantities and costs.
Manage single and multi-discipline structural engineering projects
Lead a small team of engineers in the execution of project design and production on both small and large projects.
Market to clients in pursuit of additional projects.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring of project team members, including other engineers and technical support staff such as (Assistant Team Leaders and CADD techs).
Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.
Review and check engineering work completed by others.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Resolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, investigate structural deficiencies and field engineering difficulties and coordinate schedules.
Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.

Successful completion of FHWA National Institutes' 130110 "Tunnel Safety Inspection" training.
Bridge inspection experience with local agencies such as PANY&NJ, NJ Transit, NJTA and/or NJDOT.
PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
Cost control on projects and quality control within bridge discipline.
Experience with load ratings using software packages such as AASHTOWare's Bridge Rating (BrR), CSi Bridge, etc., and Combis, InspecTech and/or BDIS database packages.
Successful completion of FHWA National Institute's 130092 training course "Fundamentals of LRFR and Application of LRFR for Bridge Superstructures" and 130078 "Bridge Inspection Techniques for Nonredundant Steel Tension Members" within the last 5 years.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or
OSHA 10 hour certification.
PE licensure in the states of NJ and NY.
Physically capable of performing continuous field work including working at heights, within confined spaces, using specialized bridge inspection access equipment, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, and working alongside highways and/or railroads using traffic and railroad flagging protection services as needed, etc.
Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or
Successful completion of FHWA National Institute's 2 week training course 130055 "Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges" including 5 year refresher training 130053 as needed.
