Assistant Team Leader

Description

In this position the employee will conduct field activities such as observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of various construction materials, while also managing safety protocols, equipment calibration, and inventory. Daily communication with technicians, project managers, and general contractors is essential, as is collaborating with Team Leaders on scheduling, recruiting, and staff management. The role includes attending project meetings and may involve participation in business development and client outreach.

• Conduct on‑site observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel.
• Manage field equipment inventory, perform calibrations, and keep detailed maintenance records.
• Enforce safety standards, ensure proper PPE use, and support company safety training initiatives.
• Coordinate daily communications with technicians, project managers, and contractors while assisting with scheduling and recruitment.
• Mentor junior field staff, providing training and career guidance.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to business development and client outreach efforts.
• Apply construction materials testing expertise, including ASTM standards and data interpretation.

Requirements

ECS Limited is seeking a certified Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Team Leader for its McKinney office. The role offers professional development opportunities and additional incentives as the candidate advances skills and experience. The primary focus is to ensure technicians receive proper training and organization through mentorship within the Field Services department.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, possess at least three years of related experience, and maintain basic certifications, with advanced certifications possible depending on duties. The ability to lift a minimum of 85 pounds, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a solid understanding of construction materials testing principles, ASTM standards, and data interpretation are required.
