Quality Engineer

Description

The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of incoming vendor material and internally finished products.

• Document material non‑conformances and lead resolution/disposition process.
• Prepare Corrective Action Request (CAR) reports and process vendor returns.
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
• Process and inspect First Article Samples (FAS), confirm design conformance, and generate audit reports.
• Oversee in‑process and final product audits, perform visual/functional tests, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain and calibrate measurement equipment.
• Handle customer complaints, process RMAs, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Create and maintain control plans, calibration status, and procedures.
• Lead initiatives to reduce scrap and cost of poor quality (COPQ).

Requirements

The role is located at the corporate office in San Antonio, TX, is full‑time, and falls under the engineering category. The position requires a BS in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering, and experience in a manufacturing or ISO‑9000 environment is preferred. Physical demands include regular sitting, walking, standing, and the ability to lift up to 50 lb in a smoke‑free manufacturing setting.

• Proficient with measurement equipment and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Tactful communicator who can point out problems professionally.
• Quick learner of new processes and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with all staff levels.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Preferred: manufacturing experience, 1 year quality control, ISO‑9000 environment.
