The role ensures top‑level environmental safety and operational excellence by managing daily landfill activities.
Key operational duties include overseeing construction projects, securing permits, handling leachate and gas systems, controlling costs, upholding safety and environmental standards, accelerating truck turnaround, and maintaining accurate waste tracking. The incumbent also acts as a community contact, follows permitting issues, and aligns operations with WM’s Mission to Zero while meeting financial schedules.
The position supervises staff, handling recruitment, coaching, performance reviews, and recommendations for termination, compensation, or promotion, and contributes to budgeting and property upkeep through inspections and preventive maintenance programs. Safety meetings, training sessions, and timely reporting are also part of the responsibilities.
Required qualifications consist of an accredited bachelor’s degree (or a high school diploma/GED with four years of related experience) together with at least seven years of relevant work experience. Preferred qualifications are not specified.
