Typical responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, and washing floors; using commercial floor buffers and shampoo machines; vacuuming rugs and spot‑cleaning them; dusting and cleaning furniture, exhibits, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and other horizontal surfaces; washing windowsills, interior glass, and entrance doors; spot‑cleaning interior walls; and maintaining bathrooms by restocking supplies, cleaning fixtures, and monitoring issues.
Additional tasks involve collecting building trash, replacing liners, shoveling snow from entrances and walkways, and performing periodic high‑dusting, leather and wood polishing, and wall washing. The employee must also report any defects such as clogged urinals or non‑functional lights.
Requirements include the ability to follow directions, work with minimal supervision, and function cooperatively as part of a team. No prior cleaning experience is required, but the candidate must be able to use cleaning tools and equipment, possess attention to detail, high energy, endurance, and a pride in delivering excellent service.
