- Play an integral part in the development and review of plans, specifications and cost estimates for Rail Design projects
- Actively grow relationships with clients, consultant partners, and industry processionals.
- Design, direct, and/or manage rail-related components of passenger rail, freight rail and commuter rail projects
- Prepare and/or direct detailed engineering plans using industry standard software products
- Coordinate with multiple disciplines for conformance to design criteria, standards and code requirements
- Assist on large multi-disciplinary design teams and lead younger staff on a variety of project tasks
- Actively participate in business development opportunities both locally and nationally.
- Develop and oversee the design of track alignments, including special track work such as turnouts, crossovers and diamond crossings
- Assist in developing rail portion of large multi-discipline project pursuits
- Perform track inspections and other site inspections during construction and maintenance projects to determine compliance with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), AREMA, and other applicable regulations
- Execute engineering investigations including feasibility and type studies with cost and risk analysis

- Excellent verbal, interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability
- PE license required; registered with NCEES a plus
- Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong work ethic, integrity
- Experience reviewing construction plans and specifications
- Previously demonstrated project experience with Class I Railroad design is a plus
- Proven experience in working on multiple projects concurrently, managing project deadlines and on-time submittals
- 8-10+ years of demonstrated experience on various types of rail projects
- Previously demonstrated project experience with Commuter/Transit Agencies is a plus
- Thorough knowledge of and practical experience applying AREMA

- Possess excellent client management skills and ability to enhance and develop solid client relationships
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or transportation engineering or mechanical engineering or a related field of study.
