In this role you will lead technical discussions with clients and multidisciplinary teams to define scope, interfaces, and delivery expectations. You will oversee engineering delivery, set technical approaches, monitor progress, and quality‑check outputs before client release, while coordinating with project management for resourcing forecasts and programme planning. Commercial awareness is required to develop proposals, manage project costs, and identify new opportunities, and you will foster client relationships, promote safety‑in‑design, and mentor junior staff to grow team capability.
The ideal candidate has consultancy, contractor, or utility experience in the UK/Ireland energy sector, with client exposure to National Grid, SHET, SSE, or similar. Experience designing HV infrastructure at concept, FEED, and detailed stages, knowledge of AC HV plant equipment (AIS and GIS), and familiarity with National Grid standards are essential. Additional strengths include proposal/bid leadership, design and construction review, and knowledge of control systems, transformers, HVDC, interconnectors, and protection, with CDAE/LCDAE approval preferred.
