Transportation Engineering Director

Description

• Performs engineering analysis and design (2D and 3D) for roadways, intersections, and related infrastructure, including new construction and rehabilitation.
• Conducts project status review with project manager and team members, checking accuracy of work completed, and monitors timeliness of project completion.
• Performs analysis and design of stormwater management facilities for roadway drainage.
• Prepares engineering studies and reports.
• Maintains and documents written and verbal communications with clients throughout the development and completion of a project.
• Performs construction phase engineering, including periodic on-site reviews, in collaboration with Construction Services team.
• Prepares construction plans, specifications, and contract documents for contracting and bidding of construction projects.
• Provides technical guidance and training to members of the project team.
• Prepares project design using sound engineering principles, engineering software and tools.

Requirements

• Project design and plan delivery experience for MDOT projects is required. Similar experience with local municipalities or other Gulf Coast state DOTs will be considered.
• Experience with ProjectWise and Deltek software packages a plus.
• Design experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation are required. Experience with OpenRoads or Inroads software is a plus.
• Understands and applies principles of traffic signalization to design of roadway and intersection improvements.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.

• Required Education:Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Mississippi, or PE in other states with the ability to be licensed in Mississippi.
• Required Experience:A minimum of 10 years of roadway and related design and management experience as a licensed professional engineer in responsible charge is required.Project design and plan delivery experience for MDOT projects is required.
