Environment + Sustainability
80% Global Output
Low-Carbon DRI Production
MIDREX plants contribute significantly to global low-carbon direct reduced iron (DRI) production.
50% Lower COâ‚‚
Steelmaking Emissions Reduction
The DRI-EAF process achieves a notable reduction in COâ‚‚ intensity compared to traditional steelmaking methods.
100% Hydrogen Operation
MIDREX Flex Technology
MIDREX Flex plants enable fully hydrogen-based production, drastically reducing carbon emissions.
One Ton COâ‚‚
Emissions Savings Per Ton
The MIDREX Process significantly lowers COâ‚‚ emissions compared to coal-based steel production.
  • MIDREX plants are designed to minimize water, noise, and air pollution and comply with World Bank and local environmental emissions standards.
  • Technology supports COâ‚‚ removal from top gas or reformer flue gas where economic (e.g., for carbon tax credits) or storage/utilization is available.
