Senior Design Engineer - Leeds

Description

• Drive continuous improvement in design processes and standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions.
• Prepare detailed design documentation, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and client requirements.
• Support tendering activities with technical input and design proposals.
• Lead the design of LV to 11kV electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, and protection schemes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and design staff.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to tight deadlines.
• Experience with renewable energy integration or smart grid technologies.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Proven experience working for an Independent Connection Provider (ICP).
• Knowledge of design systems, protection coordination, and electrical distribution networks.
• Familiarity with UK Distribution Network Operator (DNO) standards.
• Strong background in LV to 11kV system design within utilities, infrastructure, or industrial environments.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proficiency in design software and CAD tools.
