The role provides both onsite and remote technical direction to site personnel and customers, overseeing a wide range of high‑voltage equipment across wind and solar substations. The incumbent will act as the primary technical liaison between field crews and the customer.
Key responsibilities include preparing job planning documents such as engineering instructions, drawings, and process directives; leading skilled labor on customer sites; and performing troubleshooting and routine maintenance on transformers, switchgear, protection relays, control systems, and motors. These activities ensure reliable operation and compliance with engineering standards.
The position also requires administrative tasks like writing technical and job completion reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, and exercising sound judgment to control costs while maintaining a strong safety mindset at all times. Accurate documentation and cost control are critical to project success.
Applicants must have at least a High School Diploma or GED, prior high‑voltage experience, familiarity with test equipment and procedures for transformers, relays, breakers, and underground splices, and the ability to read schematics and interpret switching orders. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential, as is willingness to travel and mentor unqualified technicians. Strong organizational abilities and a safety‑first attitude are also required.
