Description

The Habitat ReStore Manager oversees all day‑to‑day operations of the ReStore, ensuring a seamless donor‑to‑customer experience while advancing GMHFH’s mission in the community. This role directs store schedules, assets, and staff development to meet financial and service goals.

Key duties include managing financial records, budgeting, and reporting sales and expenses, as well as handling the intake, processing, merchandising, and disposal of donated items. The manager also coordinates special pickups, maintains a clean and safe environment, and cultivates relationships with donors and community partners to expand merchandise quality and quantity.

Leadership of staff and volunteers is central, involving hiring, training, cross‑training, scheduling, performance feedback, and conflict resolution. The manager communicates performance metrics, promotes the organization’s mission, and works with the Volunteer Coordinator to grow and retain a robust volunteer workforce.

• Maintain accurate accounting records and provide regular financial reports to the ReStore Director or CEO.
• Develop and manage annual operating and sales budgets to achieve sales targets.
• Oversee processing of donated items, including sorting, tagging, displaying, and timely disposal.
• Control petty cash and ensure compliance with cash‑handling and credit‑card procedures.
• Coordinate special pickup requests and balance donation distribution across multiple stores.
• Identify maintenance issues and communicate needs to ensure a safe, clean working environment.
• Merchandise the sales floor effectively to maximize display space and inventory turnover.
• Establish and nurture relationships with individual, business, and community donors.
• Communicate key performance metrics and mission messaging to all staff and volunteers.
• Hire, train, cross‑train, and mentor staff and volunteers, creating opportunities for promotion.
• Approve employee time records and develop schedules that meet financial and service goals.
• Provide constructive feedback, handle customer conflicts, and enforce affiliate policies.
• Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to increase volunteer numbers and implement long‑term plans.
• Perform light arithmetic for cash handling, budgeting, and balancing cash drawers.
• Operate store equipment such as registers, iPads, hand trucks, pricing tools, and utility knives safely.
