Land Agent

Description

As a member of the Canacre Land Services team, the Land Agent will be primarily responsible for negotiating and acquiring agreements for projects. Responsibilities include ongoing communication with key stakeholders—including clients, landowners and project managers—throughout the project duration, delivering top‑quality communication and results.

• Provide site acquisition expertise to clients and engineering/construction personnel.
• Negotiate land‑use agreements with private landowners and special interest groups.
• Communicate project information to landowners, interest groups and the broader community.
• Represent clients and Canacre at community and stakeholder meetings.
• Review and interpret legal agreements, site plans and large‑scale project layouts.
• Explain appraisal reports to landowners.
• Negotiate damage releases for crop loss and other property impacts.
• Maintain detailed daily records of consultations.

Requirements

• Operate independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or post‑secondary education in geography, GIS, land acquisition or real estate (asset).
• 5+ years experience in land acquisition, real estate or right‑of‑way, preferably on large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong independent work ethic, high self‑motivation and excellent communication skills.
• Proven reporting and project‑management abilities; proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to maintain insurability under company insurance.
• Relevant professional memberships or certifications (IRWA, REIC, OREA, AIC, NAIOP) are a plus.
