Description

The Reliability Engineering Intern will support refinery initiatives focused on mechanical integrity and inspection, performing both office‑based documentation and field work that may involve exposure to moving equipment, heights, and varying weather conditions. Responsibilities include tracking and justifying projects, generating detailed reports, and participating in committees to gain hands‑on training experience.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment in compliance with safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Troubleshoot equipment, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to resolve system failures.
• Participate in technical investigations, design, and performance analysis of equipment to identify deficiencies and improvement opportunities.
• Develop, select, and test equipment and components to evaluate best‑in‑class technologies.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on equipment problem solving through root‑cause analysis and effective solutions.
• Oversee mechanical and instrumentation equipment, generate critical equipment lists, and update P&IDs and specifications.
• Plan, design, and write specifications for process equipment.
• Work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams to continuously improve supply‑chain performance and customer satisfaction.
• Create and prepare reports, type documents, and maintain organized files.
• Apply basic knowledge of industrial equipment and familiarity with SDS and safety protocols.
• Record and present data clearly and concisely.

Requirements

• Pursue a Junior or Senior B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Commit to working at least 40 hours per week and overtime as needed.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Exhibit good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred: experience with industrial operations, adaptability, building collaborative relationships, professional communication, sound judgment, results orientation, and active participation in a respectful work environment.
