What you would be doing

This will include ensuring that appropriate safety controls are in place during non-routine work hours (e.g. weekend work).
Liaises with external construction industry safety agencies.
Conduct job site inspections, submits inspection reports to Superintendent and Safety team members.
Assist in the continuous development of the companies Health and Safety program.
Assists with hazard assessments, creates JHA’s, project safety plans, safe work procedures, and the education and training of employees.
Posts all bulletins, safety posters, emergency plans, rules and regulations, safety inspections, safety meetings, and any other notices relevant to the HSE Program.
Investigates and reports all incidents and near misses to the project and safety teams; provides effective recommendations for prevention of recurrences.
Reviews Contractor safety documents to ensure that they align with Kindred Safety requirements.
Develops and maintains strong, positive professional relationships with project stakeholders of all levels.
Conducts risk assessments of the workplace when people, equipment, materials, environment and work processes change.
Conducts site-specific safety orientations of new employees, transferred employees, and contractor’s workers.
Communicates with management regarding safety performance, incident trends, and industry related information.
Maintain strong communication with the HSE Manager.
Ensure that all coordination activities are completed in a timely manner on site.
Administer, monitor and promote the HSE Program on-site, encouraging full participation and cooperation of all employees and subcontractors.

Experience using Procore Management System is an asset.
Ability and confidence to instill core safety values internally and to trade contractors.
Basic computer skills; Experience with Outlook, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Construction Safety Officer (CSO).
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
Knowledge of BCCSA COR requirements
Advanced First Aid is mandatory or a current OFA 3 ticket.
Maintains current knowledge of HSE Program, Workers Compensation Act and Regulations, owner requirements, and industry safe work procedures and practices.
High attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills.
Ability to work efficiently with minimal direction while leading by example
Valid CSO certification recognized in British Columbia.
Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety best practices.
Works efficiently in teams and independently; maintains a positive, high-energy attitude.
