As Manager Operations Support – Commercial Transport Regulation, you will support the Head of Commercial Transport Regulation by overseeing the end‑to‑end regulatory sub‑system. Your focus will be on ensuring robust performance monitoring, reporting and workflow coordination that align with strategic priorities and enable effective regulatory delivery for commercial transport safety.
You will lead the development and implementation of tools and processes that provide visibility of regulatory activity, analyse risk and translate insights into targeted regulatory approaches. This includes managing programme and workflow planning, coordinating resources, and acting as a key liaison with NZTA corporate support functions and third‑party providers.
- Track and report key performance indicators across operational functions.
- Develop and maintain outcome‑focused metrics, dashboards and reporting structures.
- Provide strategic analysis to identify, manage and escalate risks, issues and opportunities.
- Support internal audits with accurate, timely performance data.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and embed best practices.
- Coordinate program planning, resources and workflow to meet project milestones.
- Manage relationships with third‑party providers to ensure performance outcomes.
- Influence and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across NZTA.
- Set up and manage performance monitoring and reporting systems.
- Apply analytical, evidence‑based insights to improve regulatory service delivery.
- Lead and support teams in complex regulatory environments.
- Apply project management principles to improvement projects.
- Promote Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Te Reo Māori and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The role requires proven ability to translate strategic direction into operational delivery within a large, complex organisation, strong analytical and systems‑thinking skills, and experience setting up performance monitoring and reporting systems. You should have a sound understanding of regulatory systems, excellent stakeholder influencing abilities, and a track record of leading teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
