Description

The role focuses on mechanical development of electro‑mechanical products, handling R&D hardware, firmware, software, and delivering complete Smart Grid solutions as part of a cross‑functional team. Collaboration spans design, development, validation, and component delivery with internal and external partners.

• Design mechanical systems and components using solid‑modeling CAD tools.
• Produce detailed part and assembly drawings and generate BOMs and ECOs.
• Define dimensions, materials, and geometry to meet functional and structural requirements.
• Ensure mechanical development stays on schedule and within cost targets.
• Support product concepts from infancy through production‑ready stages.
• Source, procure, and integrate parts from internal and external suppliers.
• Diagnose field failures and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to component and solution design, documentation, and validation.
• Work on agile, cross‑disciplinary teams to develop hardware and software for Smart Grid solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in recruitment activities.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovative technology development.

Requirements

• Experience designing sheet‑metal, plastic, die‑cast, and machined enclosures with environmental, EMI, thermal, and vibration considerations.
• Proficiency in Pro/ENGINEER, Creo, and familiarity with AutoCAD.
• Understanding of AMI and Smart Grid systems, development processes, and validation methodologies.
• Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and communicate solutions effectively.
• Competence with Microsoft Office and general PC skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to design organized code/testing methodologies and validate features with minimal oversight.
• Communicate clearly across diverse audiences and mediums.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related field) with 1‑5 years of mechanical design experience for electronic devices.
