- Flag traffic while standing, using both hands for a STOP/SLOW paddle and a two way radio. May be exposed to weather extremes (i.e. heat, rain, wind, etc.)
- Walk along beside slow moving equipment and flag traffic using a hand held flag.
- Check with dump truck operators who come on site to receive a copy of the load ticket and provide directions to dump areas.
- Placement or removal of plastic traffic cones - weight 10-12 lbs. This is done by sitting in a slow moving vehicle while placing or picking up cones on the roadway. Can require dynamic lifting actions due to picking items up while vehicle is moving slowly.
- Monitor lane closures for knocked over cones while walking. Must upright or move cones as needed.
- Monitor lane closures for knocked over barricades or portable signs. Ability to upright these items. Weight to upright 10-20 lbs. Requires walking, bending and lifting.
- Stand for periods of time and flag traffic in order to direct motorists through the construction workzone. Use of a STOP/SLOW paddle or orange flag is required.
- Placement or removal of barricades/signs – weight 25-50 lbs. The worker lifts these items from the back of a pick-up truck or trailer and stands them up near the roadway.

- Climb into or out of the back of a pick-up truck or traffic control trailer. Requires stepping up on the bumper of the truck or trailer, steadying yourself with one hand, and stepping over the side of the truck bed or trailer. Exits the vehicle by reversing the steps above.
