In this role you will keep automation projects moving by supporting data‑center startups, performing on‑site mechanical, electrical, and control checks, and leading startup, checkout, and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems in industries such as food and beverage. You will partner with automation and controls engineers to test, troubleshoot, and validate their systems on‑site, providing clear communication and updates to customers and project teams. Travel follows a typical rotation of 5 on‑2 off, 10 on‑4 off, or 14 on‑7 off, exposing you to new challenges and locations while working with a variety of large‑scale customers.
We’re opening our 2026 hiring pipeline for curious, adaptable problem‑solvers who love travel, hands‑on work, and being part of a team that actually knows your name. If you can laugh through flight delays, figure things out on the fly, and enjoy solving complex problems, this role could be a perfect fit.
We are looking for candidates who love travel and are willing to be away from home on rotation, with a working knowledge of electrical systems, programming, and communication networking. Required traits include adaptability, grit, strong communication, and problem‑solving skills. Applicants must live within 50 miles of a major airport (relocation assistance available), have a personal vehicle within 45 days of employment, be authorized to work in the U.S., and hold a technical degree or equivalent 3+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering.
Essential physical functions include walking long distances across large facilities, climbing ladders or working at heights, lifting and moving up to 50 lb, and standing, kneeling, or reaching for extended periods in varied environments such as construction sites or outdoors. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
Our four‑week paid training prepares technically skilled individuals for field work. Success in training requires a basic foundation in electrical systems, programming, and communication networking, so candidates without that background may not be ready yet.
Working with us means combining work and travel: you’ll experience new cities, tackle unique projects, and earn travel rewards while serving customers across North America, without a fixed office. Compensation starts at $60,000–$75,000 (depending on location, education, and experience) plus per‑diem, mileage, utilization and weekend bonuses. We invest in growth through paid training, annual merit raises, and a guaranteed 5 % salary increase after six months. Benefits include health, dental, life insurance, a matching 401(k), disability coverage, paid vacation and flexible time off after 18 months. Our smaller, people‑first culture emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, humor, and leaders who have risen from the ranks.
If you seek a challenging, travel‑filled career where your effort matters, we’d love to meet you. ProAutomated is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity, inclusion, and fair employment decisions.
