The Project Engineer supports Project Managers by ensuring that all installed work meets the project's plans and specification requirements.
Key responsibilities include becoming intimately familiar with project plans and specifications, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and evaluating designs for value, constructability, and appropriate material usage, while communicating any inconsistencies to the architect.
The role requires attending and documenting project team meetings, distributing minutes, publishing weekly progress reports, updating schedules, assisting in bidding and scope development, and collaborating with the superintendent to coordinate shop drawing timelines and milestone dates.
The Engineer advises on concrete pour procedures, inspects structural reinforcing, coordinates slump and compaction testing, reviews field installation of structural elements, maintains logs of drawings and change requests, performs work sampling, and provides recommendations to improve production efficiency while complying with safety policies.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent experience), strong written and oral communication skills, proficiency with Word and Excel, flexibility, teamwork, blueprint reading ability, quick learning aptitude, knowledge of OSHA and company safety standards, integrity, problem‑solving skills, at least one year of field experience, and preferably familiarity with scheduling software and basic Spanish.
