  • Monitor and evaluate federal, state, and local regulations for impact on the company and daily operations.
  • Attends planning, pre-job and project meetings to ensure safety concerns are being addressed and resolved.
  • Conduct jobsite and work area audits.
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to integrate safety into all aspects of construction activities.
  • Administer, manage, communicate, and update the company’s safety program, processes and manual.
  • Assist in identifying safety training and educational needs and coordinate their development, and delivery.
  • Serves as a consultant to associates at all levels in the field and office regarding technical and organizational aspects of safety.
  • Participate with RLG’s safety committee.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Specialist to lead our journey to safety excellence. This individual will be responsible for developing, managing, and supporting the implementation of comprehensive safety programs that ensure the well-being of everyone on our projects and in our workplaces. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of construction safety, a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, and a proven ability to foster a culture of safety through active leadership and engagement at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Strong sense of curiosity with excellent listening skills.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in the commercial construction industry with safety experience with the proven ability to identify workable solutions to eliminate hazards.
  • Experience in conducting thorough investigations of incidents and near-misses.
  • Able to lead difficult conversations.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records of safety incidents, training sessions, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Able to prioritize, pivot and respond quickly to requests of customers, project managers and superintendents.
  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA certifications, CSP) preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined and the ability to work independently.
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify existing and potential hazards and risks in construction environments and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Strong and relevant computer skills.
  • Possess a growth mindset.
  • Ability to interact effectively among multiple layers of the organization, including subcontractors and clients.
  • Excellent leadership, organization and communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and processes.
  • Quick and effective decision-making skills in high-pressure situations, coupled with the ability to solve safety-related issues as they arise on construction sites.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
